The island of Taboga, located in the Bay of Panama, is
a beautiful oasis covered in flora and fauna due to its rich fertile soil.
Tropical plants abound including mangos,
papayas, citrus, avocados, bananas, coconuts, and pineapples.
Its surrounding waters are abundant with
seafood and fish.
The island is also a noted tropical wildlife
refuge because of the amount of seabirds that live along its coasts and
other animals such as anteaters, wild rabbits, sloths and poison dart frogs.
In addition to its edible flora, Taboga also
boasts an impressive variety of orchids and ferns.
Tucked into the hillside of the quiet fishing
village are the brightly painted homes of approximately 1000 residents.
Our day tour to the Island of Flowers begins in the
morning with a ferry ride to your destination.
The first activity once you reach the island
will be to climb Cerro de la Cruz.
The walk through the tropical forest will bring
you to a summit with sweeping views of the Bay of Panama and Panama City.
As we make our way back to the town, you’ll
wander through the village admiring the gardens and colors.
At lunch you will have to opportunity to enjoy
some of the fresh tropical fruits and seafood.
After lunch you will be at your leisure to further
explore the quaint narrow streets of the island or enjoy some beach time and
a swim in the warm, yet refreshing, tropical waters.
The evening ferry will bring you back to
Panama.
