Carlos Fonseca, our Chiriqui naturalist guide and operations manager grew up in the highlands of Chiriqui where he developed his love for nature. At a very young age he began helping the park rangers at the Parque Internacional La Amistad and guiding visitors on the parks trails.
After receiving a scholarship, Carlos earned his degree in ecotourism and later on a Post Graduate Diploma in International Hospitality from the University Centre, Caesar Ritz in Switzerland. In addition, he is a member of the ASAELA, a non- profit organization in charge of nature conservation, and a volunteer of Audubon Society for the Christmas Bird Count.
Today, he is back in the outdoors with more enthusiasm understanding the real importance of preserving, admiring, and sharing the great biodiversity which he enjoys every day.
Carlos is a Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) through the National Association for Interpreters and also one of an elite group of Panamanian guides who have completed a 200+ hours comprehensive guide training and certification program sponsored by APTSO, USAID, and the ATP.
